Mill Lane in Histon, Cambridge was rated outstanding by the CQC,following its most recent inspection on 1 May 2019.
It was given two outstanding ratings, in the responsive and well-led sections and good forthe safe, effective and caring elements.
The CQC report said that some people's goals and ambitions were complicated due to their health conditions. The registered manager and staff strove to overcome these obstacles.
When one resident wanted to visit at overseas theme park staff went through the site map of the park with the resident to ensure that the person would be able to go on the rides they wanted and check whether any theme park lighting would trigger the persons health condition.
Staff said it was also an important opportunity to involve the person in the planning of the trip by discussing and agreeing what equipment they would need to take to support the person; and the logistics of how the person would be able to get on and off the rides.
As part of the provider recognition scheme of achievements, a staff member had been nominated by a residentat Mill Lane and won a 'Customer Choice award'. This category was for people to nominate and highlight a staff member, working in the provider's services that had continually gone above and beyond what was expected of them.
The award ceremony took place in London and the staff member andresident attended. By all accounts it was a great evening and there’s lots of photographic evidence to suggest that.
